Summer Slide: Emmaus House Fundraiser

What is the Summer Slide? The summer slide is the term used to describe a decline in reading ability and other academic skills that can occur over the summer months when school isn't in session. The Saint Veronica's Guild of the Episcopal Church Women at the Cathedral of St. Philip are fundraising to help area programs like the ones below to make a difference.

EMMAUS HOUSE FUNDRAISER

One example of this fundraiser in action is Emmaus House Atlanta. They operate the CDF Freedom School which is a six-week summer program to nurture reading and other academic skills. The fundraiser is seeking donations of items to provide teacher appreciate baskets to the amazing teachers at the Emmaus House Freedom School! They are also collecting donations of (new) bathing suit (sizes 5-13, any gender) for the students of Emmaus House.
