Emmaus House Summer Reading Gift Card

Help support the summer reading program for Emmaus House children. Emmaus House works to improve the economic and social well-being of the residents of Peoplestown and surrounding neighborhoods of Atlanta. 

Research shows students who have more books in their homes perform better academically. To give children books they want to read and to help them build home libraries, Emmaus House is partnering with the Cathedral Book Store.

In addition to daily online reading with mentors, scholars will receive at least one physical book of their choice every Friday. The work of providing books to all children is urgent, especially during the current pandemic when so much time is spent at home. Typically $10 will buy one paperback and $15 will buy one hardback for the students.

Emmaus House stands for justice and equity, rooted in faith and a deep respect for the dignity of every human being. We harness the power of community, education, hope, and love to dismantle poverty, racism, and other barriers to opportunity in the lives and communities we serve.  From our early days during the civil rights movement to the uncertainty of today, we have loved and learned, prayed and mobilized, and laughed and cried with the incredibly resilient people of this historic neighborhood. As we look forward to the next 50 years, we are clearer than ever about the work before us.
