Earthly Good is a small classic to be read and reread and shared with friends and given to seekers. Earthly Good is also a gentle companion when you are alone in the dark of the night.
The Rev. Martha Sterne was Writer in Residence at Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church, Atlanta, GA, as well as previously serving parishes in midtown Atlanta and in Maryville, Tennessee, on the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains. She has written three books: Earthly Good.Alive and Loose in the Ordinary, and Tell Mea Story:Preaching with the Holy Innocents. Her abiding pleasure is to help people pay attention to the living and storied presence of God in each of us and in all our days. She grew up in Mississippi, where she first knew the power of stories getting passed around and down through generations. She and her husband, Carroll, have two grown children and two grandchildren.
Barbara Brown Taylor writes of Earthly Good: "There is no other voice in the world like Martha Sterne's. In her wise, funny, and utterly candid hands, nothing remains trivial. A cigarette ash is all she needs to proclaim death and resurrection. A can of Coke becomes a sacrament of communion. Call it the spirituality of incarnation."
