He served as professor of theology at Wheaton College in Illinois and founded the Institute for Worship Studies in Orange Park, Florida. Lester Ruth is research professor of Christian worship at Duke Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina. An ordained Methodist pastor, he teaches worship history at Webber's Institute for Worship Studies.
